Feeling Blue

Challenge #155 is Blue over at Sassy Cheryl’s.

For this challenge, I colored up Avery and her Big Patriotic Hat.
I colored sweet little Avery using Copic markers in the following colors:

The paper is from My Mind’s Eye.

I used a sprinkle of gold Stickles on the stars and added the sentiment “United We Stand.”

Speaking of blues…is anyone else suffering from the Winter Blues? I sure am! I am ready for the lazy, sunny days of summer!
Have a great Wednesday, my friends!

This card will be perfectly patriotic to send to one of my adopted soldiers!

Loves Rubberstamps Tag Challenge

Loves Rubberstamps Challenge #41 is to make a tag or have one on your project.
Lately, I have been into coloring witches. So I colored up Simply Betty’s Witchy Boo Betty.

Witchy Boo Betty was colored up with Copic markers using:
Skin-E000, 00, 01,02,11
Other-Y35,B93,96, E31,33, C1,3,5
The tag says…Life is Good

The tag is from a multi-pack of stamps made by Recollections.

A few gold Stickles and gemstones and it is complete.
I had yet another early dismissal from school today due to the ice storm. I am thinking that flying a broom to get to and from work may be an easier solution to at least travel and get there!!!
Have a great Monday my friends!

And…since I had some time to play around today I made this adorable card to give to a coworker that will be undergoing major surgery this Thursday.

It is Simply Betty’s Red Queen. On the punched tag I wrote “You deserve to be treated like a queen.” I attached the card to a bag of Gardner’s Chocolate covered pretzels. Those are real playing cards and the roses are paper quilled using the Cuttlebug.

Obsessively Wicked

I am obsessed with Wicked and the Wizard of Oz. I am excitedly awaiting for the new movie: Oz the Great and Powerful to open up in theaters! I love everything about it… I’ve read the book, was captivated by the musical, and listen to the soundtrack on a daily basis. Defying Gravity is my favorite song. Those are the lyrics I wrote on the right page. I think I may have The Husband talked in to taking a day trip to New York to see the show on Broadway in July!
So…until then…I smashed my Wicked obsession. It’s been a work in progress over the last week. I am sure that I will continue to add to my Smash Book. I am planning on smashing a whole lay out using different digi stamp witches.
Here are my pages:

One of my favorite quotes from Elphaba (…and quite possibly why I think I love Elphie sooo much…)

And some others…Elphie explaining why she is not GREEN:

Two of the digital images come from Saturated Canary. They are: Elphie and Witchkeys
The Tin Man and The Scarecrow are from Mo Manning.
There it is…Smashed success…

Sunday Sketch #161

Sunday sketch! Woo-hoo!
Here is the sketch:

And….my take:

I went with a gray scale and pop of color…again! I know. I’ve been using this a lot lately but it takes the decision making process of what color to color easier for me. I am a horrible decision maker.
I used Some Odd Girl’s digi image titled Puddle Hopping Tia. Isn’t she the cutest??? I kept the card simple and added a simple sentiment: “…thinking of you…”

I colored Tia using Copic markers: C1,3,5 and Y21, 23.
The oval was cut using Nestabilities and the paper was 12×12 paper purchased as single sheets. I added a few tiny blue gemstones to mimic the rain and two yellow round brads to stay true to the sketch. I took chalk and attempted to chalk in some clouds. But black chalk is blah!
Happy Sunday, my friends!

Tiddly Inks Challenge–CRITTERS

Tiddly Inks current Challenge #104–Critters!
I am not very good at coloring animals. So I don’t have a lot of images with critters but I do have good ole’ little Hedge Hog. He is soooo darn cute! This is the extra Hedgie that came with Hedgie Hugg.
I kept this card clean and simple.

20130223-204024.jpgI wanted the focus to be on little Hedgie.
I used a fur coloring technique I learned during my Copic coloring class.

If you look closely, you will see the fur texture I added by taking my sweater (yes, the one I was wearing!) and I saturated a small part with colorless blender and then tapped it quickly on Hedgie. Pretty neat! Although I am afraid to look and see if the blender turned my sweater white. Oh, well! It’s a sweater I only wear around the house if it did. The sentiment was printed on the computer and I used the circle cutter to make the circles. The butterflies were fussy cut and popped up using pop it dots. So…what’s up?

Oh, and since this is a critter challenge, I have this sweet Tiddly Inks stamp called Best Friends

20130223-210045.jpg I made this one a long time ago as a thank you card for the vet. Just thought I’d share…see? No texture…it was colored before I took my class. Have a great weekend, my friends!

UN-Birthday to You

Card Makin’ Mamas current challenge is BIRTHDAY!
Here is my card entry:

This is Sassy Cheryl’s Polly’s Little Slice of Cake
Mmmmmmm….cake! My favorite. And I colored it up as my favorite kind…chocolate icing and yellow cake.

I used Copic markers using:
Skin- E50,51,53
Other-E44,47,Y21, B93,95, Y13, E57

I pieced some ribbon together and added the sentiment sticker. I’m not sure who made the sticker. It may have been Softly Spoken. I really need to learn to keep stuff in their original packages. Oops.
Happy birthday! Or Happy UN-Birthday if its not your birthday!!

Have you checked out Some Odd Girl’s new Community sight? It’s great! Just us Oddie’s hanging out in the neighborhood! Sharing our creations and adding threads to the discussion forums. Here is the link:
Just for fun, the challenge proposed was to create a tag. And…since school was dismissed early today because of the ice accumulation, I was able to play in my craft corner.
That’s right! I have a corner…where most have a room, I have an itty bitty corner.
Oh, I am not whining! I am just grateful to have a corner.

Here is my SOG tag creation:

Have a great weekend! Maybe I’ll see you soon in the community!
